Sarah Hoffman Wins Tennessee Women’s Open with Volvik S3

Volvik Staffer Sarah Hoffman Wins 2017 Tennessee Women’s Open with S3 Golf Ball

Volvik staff player Sarah Hoffman, one of the sponsor’s invite for the 2016 LPGA Volvik Championship, won the 2017 Tennessee Women’s Open at Stonehenge Golf Course playing Volvik’s S3 golf ball. Hoffman shot rounds of 75, 68, 72 (-1) to tie for the lead with two other women and eventually took the won on the 2nd playoff hole of the professional event that featured the best players in the state and surrounding areas.

“I stayed positive and played my own game,” said Hoffman.  “I told myself I wasn’t going to lose this tournament for her.  Either I was going to win, or I was going to force Sam to make birdies to win.  I was also aware that all it would take was for her to have one bad hole and I would be right back in it.”

Hoffman birdied number 14 in the final round and tied the lead. She made bogey on the next hole and was one down going into the tough number 18.  Hole 18 is 370 yards, but has water that came into play at 125 yards, making it require a lay-up off of the tee. The second shot hits into a narrow two-tiered green that is well bunkered. Hoffman made a clutch 6-foot putt to tie and to be part of the playoff.   The playoff took place on number 18 with hundreds of people lined up down the fairway.  Hoffman won with another clutch par putt on the 2nd playoff hole.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said Hoffman.  “I had won! It was such a surreal moment for me.  I had won many times in college, but winning my first professional tournament, especially in a play off with a good size gallery, provided so much validation for me.  Not only did I make the right decision to pursue professional golf, but that I can make key putts when the tournament is on the line.”

Hoffman has been traveling all over the country playing in LPGA Monday Qualifiers, Symetra Tour Events, and State Open Tournaments this year.  When she is not traveling for tournaments, she is am either practicing at Travis Pointe Country Club, home of the LPGA Volvik Championship on the LPGA Tour  or she is in Toledo working with my swing coach Jeff Manore.

Hoffman recently competed on the Symetra Tour at the PHC Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
