Pornanong Phatlum Finishes 2nd at LPGA’s Portland Classic with Pink Volvik
Volvik staff player Pornanong Phatlum finished T2 at the Cambia Portland Classic Sunday with her signature Hot Pink Volvik golf ball. Thailand’s Phatlum shot 69-69-69-68 in the four round event, leading her to the third runner-up finish of her career. All three of her runner-up finishes have been earned since she switched to a Volvik golf ball in 2012.
It was the 8th runner-up finish for a LPGA professional playing a Volvik golf ball in the last three years. Add in the three LPGA Tour victories that Volvik golf balls have experienced over the past three seasons and Volvik golf balls have earned 11 first and second place finishes; five with Orange, three with Pink and three with Yellow golf balls.
The runner-up finish vaults Phatlum to 23rd in Race to the CME Globe standings, the season-long competition that pays out the player who has accumulated the most points with $1 million after the CME Group Tour Championship Nov. 19-22.
The T2 finish is the 2nd Top 5 finish of the year and 7th Top 25 finish for Phatlum, who has earned $318,003 on the LPGA Tour in 2015. Phatlum received significant television coverage with her top finish and the usage of her Pink golf ball was again mentioned by the Golf Channel’s on-air personalities.
