Volvik Announces Signing of Masters Champion Craig Stadler to 2-Year Endorsement Deal
Volvik, the #1 Color Golf Ball on Tour, today announced the signing of professional golfer Craig Stadler to a two-year endorsement deal. Stadler won 13 times on the PGA TOUR, including the 1982 Masters, and has nine wins on the Champions Tour, including a victory last year at the 2013 Encompass Championship.
"I am very happy to announce my partnership with Volvik golf balls," said Stadler. "I have found their golf balls to be a perfect blend of distance, accuracy and spin around the greens. I look forward to many years of success with this highly innovative and fast rising company."
Stadler will play a Volvik golf ball for the 2014 and 2015 Champions Tour seasons. In 2013, Stadler made 20 of 21 cuts and had four Top 10 finishes to earn $573,597 on the Champions Tour. He finished 28th in the 2013 Charles Schwab Cup Points.
Stadler and his son Kevin will both play the 2014 Masters as the first ever father-son combo in the event's 78-year history. The 2014 Masters will be his 38th Masters. He has earned five Top 10 finishes at The Masters in that time span. The Masters will be the first time Volvik golf balls will be in play at a major championship on the PGA TOUR, garnering major exposure for the up-and-coming brand.
"The signing of Craig Stadler to the Volvik professional staff tells the world that we have arrived as a very serious player in the US golf ball market," said Jon Claffey, National Director of Sales and Marketing for Volvik USA. "Not only is the fact that a 30-time champion will be playing our Vista iV golf ball and wearing a Volvik hat on the Champions Tour, we will break into The Masters for the first time ever as a brand and will receive a ton of exposure from the Stadler's being the father-son combo at the event. It's a wonderful coup for Volvik as we continue to tell our innovation and color story to the golfing world."
Stadler was born in San Diego, CA in 1953. His father started him in golf at age four and he excelled at the game early in childhood. He won the 1973 U.S. Amateur, while attending the University of Southern California, where he was an All-American all four years. Stadler turned professional in 1976.
He won his first two PGA Tour events in 1980 at the Bob Hope Desert Classic and the Greater Greensboro Open. His career year came in 1982 when he won four PGA Tour events including The Masters. Later in his PGA TOUR career, Stadler won the B.C. Open in 2003, becoming the first player over age 50 to win a PGA TOUR event in 28 years. He also played on the 1983 and 1985 Ryder Cup teams.
"The addition of Craig Stadler, Tim Petrovic and Larry Nelson to the Volvik professional staff goes a long way for Volvik to show that we have ultra-high performance, premium tour quality golf balls for every player type," said Volvik USA President Don Shin. "Volvik now has a balanced professional staff that includes one PGA TOUR winner, two major championship winners and 12 LPGA Tour players. We are rapidly making it known that we are the new global golf ball brand in the market place and that we offer innovation, technology, better materials and color that no one else is offering."
