Volvik Color Golf Balls Now Official Ball of World Long Drive!

Final Field for World Long Drive Finals is Taking Shape, 4 Different Volvik Color Golf Balls Will Be Used By Competitors

After the completion of the Mile High Shootout August 27, the last of the six-event World Long Drive qualifying series events, the final field for the World Long Drive Finals is beginning to take shape.

For Volvik, that means major exposure is on the horizon as the official golf ball of World Long Drive. Four different brightly colored Volvik golf balls will be featured live on back-to-back nights in primetime on Golf Channel under the lights, Oct. 11-12 at WinStar World Casino & Resort in Thackerville, Okla.

Volvik’s Vista iV 4-piece, 95-compression golf ball will be used by all Long Drive competitors in the 2016 World Long Drive Championship, with color offerings including Orange, Green, Pink and Yellow. The ball has been used in competition throughout the Long Drive season in 2016, in the six regional qualifiers leading up to the Championship. The new ball accounted for distances consistently in excess of 400 yards for the qualifying competitors, and helped to increase overall visibility for the competitors, spectators and judges alike.

“The decision to partner with Volvik as the official ball of World Long Drive was made with a lot of benefits in mind,” said Larry Holm, Senior Director of Live Tournaments for Golf Channel. “Their signature colored golf ball offering is a perfect fit for the World Long Drive Championship airing in primetime on Golf Channel under the lights, making it easy for competitors, officials and fans in attendance – along with those watching at home – to track the flight of the ball in the air and as it lands on the driving grid.”

At the Mile High Shootout in Colorado, distances of up to 448 yards were generated by the qualifiers using Volvik’s wind-resistant and low driver spin golf balls.

At the Denver event, Ian Griscom (448 yards), Jeff Farley (393 yards) and Zac Adams (446 yards) all qualified for the Finals. The 2016 World Long Drive Championship will be held October 6-12, with three divisions (Open, Ladies and Masters) at WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla. The winner of the Open Division will receive $125,000.

The 95-compression Volvik Vista iV 4-piece golf ball now being used in competition at Long Drive events is known for being a perfect ball for faster swing speeds and when hitting into the wind. The Zirconium cover on the Vista iV is more durable than Urethane and allows for a greater transfer of energy to provide longer flight time. Results to date in the 2016 Callaway World Long Drive Qualifying Series events demonstrate the distance benefits that the Volvik ball is providing, as evidenced by Ryan Reisbeck, who won the WinStar kickoff event with a final drive of 446 yards.

“I love the feel of the Volvik Vista iV,” said Reisbeck. “It’s a very long ball with great playability. My two longest balls in competition were with the Volvik Vista iV, 475 yards and 474 yards. That’s all the proof you need to know the ball is long, very long.”

Another instrumental component of the Vista iV is that it is the only 4-piece golf ball in the world manufactured in the full spectrum of color (Green, Orange, Pink, Yellow, and White). “The bright Volvik colors make it easy to follow the ball in the air and when it lands past the other player’s drives,” said Reisbeck. “Volvik makes a fantastic golf ball that brings more excitement to the game of golf.”

New to the World Long Drive format for 2016 format is that local and regional qualifying sets will consist of eight drives within a 3:00 time limit. In previous years, sets consisted of six balls within a 2:45 time limit.

“Being the official ball of World Long Drive is a huge deal for Volvik,” said Don Shin, President of Volvik USA. “We are now the official golf ball of World Long Drive in the United States, which acts as a global hub, as well as the official ball for the Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) in Europe. This makes Volvik and the Vista iV the preeminent golf ball for a part of golf that is growing very rapidly and bringing new eyeballs and interest to our sport. Our concentration has always been about making the game more fun and growing the game. With this activation, we really are a driving force for growing all aspects of the game by bringing Volvik’s color, performance and personality to the longest drivers in the world."
