Volvik Named Official Golf Ball of Golf Channel’s World Long Drive

Volvik Named Official Golf Ball of Golf Channel’s World Long Drive

Volvik announces that it has been named the official golf ball of World Long Drive and that its Vista iV 4-piece golf ball will be used by all Long Drive competitors in the 2016 World Long Drive Championship – airing in primetime on Golf Channel October 11-12 – and the six regional qualifiers leading up to the Championship.

The 2016 World Long Drive Championship will be held October 6-12, 2016, with three divisions (Open, Ladies and Masters)  at WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla. The winner of the Open Division will receive $125,000.

The 95-compression Volvik Vista iV 4-piece golf ball now being used in competition at Long Drive events is known for being a perfect ball for faster swing speeds and when hitting into the wind. The Zirconium cover on the Vista iV is more durable than Urethane and allows for a greater transfer of energy to provide longer flight time. Results to date in the 2016 Callaway World Long Drive Qualifying Series events demonstrate the distance benefits that the Volvik ball is providing, as evidenced by Ryan Reisbeck, who won the WinStar kickoff event with a final drive of 446 yards.

“I love the feel of the Volvik Vista iV,” said Reisbeck. “It’s a very long ball with great playability. My two longest balls in competition were with the Volvik Vista iV, 475 yards and 474 yards. That’s all the proof you need to know the ball is long, very long.”

Another instrumental component of the Vista iV as it relates to being the official ball for World Long Drive is that it is the only 4-piece golf ball in the world manufactured in the full spectrum of color (Green, Orange, Pink, Yellow, White). Competitors are rapidly hitting balls at the same time and by using different colors while they hit. Volvik’sbright colors make it easier for the judges, spectators and competitors themselves to see the ball in the air and after it lands.

“The bright Volvik colors make it easy to follow the ball in the air and when it lands past the other player’s drives,” said Reisbeck. “Volvik makes a fantastic golf ball that brings more excitement to the game of golf.”

New to the World Long Drive format for 2016 format is that local and regional qualifying sets will consist of eight (8) drives within a 3:00 time limit. In previous years, sets consisted of six (6) balls within a 2:45 time limit. Each local qualifying event will produce six open division and two masters division winners; therefore, 48 division and 16 Masters division hitters advancing to the regional final. The Open Division will consist of 80 players in a match play, bracket tournament. The field will be made up of exempt competitors, regional qualifiers, tour event winners, international representatives, and “Last Chance Qualifiers”. The Masters Division will have a field of 48 players in a Match Play Tournament that consists of Exempt Competitors, International Representatives, and Regional Qualifiers.

“Being the official ball of World Long Drive is a huge deal for Volvik,” said Don Shin, President of Volvik USA. “We are now the official golf ball of World Long Drive in the United States, which acts as a global hub, as well as the official ball for the Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) in Europe. This makes Volvik and the Vista iV the preeminent golf ball for a part of golf that is growing very rapidly and bringing new eyeballs and interest to our sport. Our concentration has always been about making the game more fun and growing the game. With this activation, we really are a driving force for growing all aspects of the game by bringing Volvik’s color, performance  and personality to the longest drivers in the world."
