Volvik Staff Player Phatlum Wins Thai Ladies Masters for 3rd Year in a Row with a Pink Volvik
Volvik staff player Pornanong Phatlum shot a 9-under-par 207 to win the Thailand LPGA Masters Sunday at Panya Indra Golf Club in Bangkok, Thailand. It was the third year in a row Phatlum has won the event known as Thailand’s biggest women’s golf event with a Volvik golf ball.
The 25-year-old Phatlum won the title by two strokes with her signature Pink Volvik tour-premium golf ball. As one of the two co-leaders going into the final round at the par-72 course, Phatlum secured the victory when she closed with a 67 to win the three million baht prize money. Players from over 10 countries participated in the event.
The 25-year-old from Chaiyaphum, Thailand made the turn at 36 with two birdies and two bogeys and then had a late boost, firing an eagle at the 16th and birdies at 17 and 18.
"This week, I was able to play very well with my Volvik ball to get another win at the Thailand Masters", said Phatlum. “I am very excited and promise to be back next year to defend my title.”
Phatlum is the 34th ranked player in the world. She finished 2nd on the LPGA Tour August 13 at the Cambia Portland Classic. The runner-up finish was the 2nd Top 5 finish of the year and 7th Top 25 finish for Phatlum, who has earned $353,000 on the LPGA Tour in 2015.
In addition to winning the Thailand LPGA Masters in each of the last three years, Phatlum set a Ladies Asian Golf Tour record as the first player to win five times - Hong Kong Open (2006), Women's India Open (2008, 2009 and 2012) and Thailand Ladies Open (2008).
