Volvik Player Mi Hyang Lee Wins On LPGA Tour Playing Orange Volvik

Volvik Staff Player Mi Hyang Lee Wins On LPGA Tour Playing Orange Volvik Golf Ball

Volvik, the #1 Color Golf Ball on Tour, experienced their second victory on the LPGA Tour Sunday. Volvik staff player Mi Hyang Lee played a Volvik S3 golf ball to her first victory on the LPGA Tour at the Mizuno Classic in a dramatic five-hole playoff.

"I can't believe it right now," Lee said."It feels amazing. Awesome."

Players using Volvik color golf balls earned three Top 5 finishes at the Mizuno Classic including 1st, 2nd and 4th. It was the 12th Top 5 and 31st Top 10 finish on the 2014 LPGA Tour for Volvik players.

                    1st               Mi Hyang Lee        Orange

                    2nd              Ilhee Lee               Yellow

                    4th              Chella Choi            Orange

In a five-hole sudden death playoff that also featured fellow Volvik staffer Ilhee Lee playing a Yellow Vista iS golf ball, the playoff made for the first ever playoff in a U.S. professional tour event that featured three different color golf balls. In the battle of Orange vs. Yellow vs. White, the Orange ball prevailed, marking the first time an Orange golf ball has won on the LPGA Tour.  Ilhee Lee won with a Yellow Volvik ball in 2013 at the Pure Silk Bahamas Classic.

Mi Hyang Lee hit the shot of the tournament on the 5th playoff hole,  leaving her 3-hybrid approach shot from 190-yards to a two feet for a birdie and victory.

“It was my first playoff ever so before I started the playoff I was a little nervous,” said Mi Hyang Lee. “I just kept playing and made pars and birdies and the other players played really good. It was exciting when I made the last putt.”

The 21-year-old Lee finished with an 11-under 205 total at Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club in Shima, Japan.  The $180,000 winner's check brings her 2014 earnings up to $536,776, ranking her 29th on the official 2014 LPGA money list.

Volvik now has five staff players ranking in the Top 30 of the LPGA Tour Race to the CME Globe rankings,  the new season-long points competition that will pay the player who has accumulated the most points with a $1 million unofficial money payout.

"Volvik is very proud of Mi Hyang Lee's amazing victory at the Mizuno Classic," said Volvik USA President Don Shin. "We have been with Mi Hyang since she first came up on the Symetra Tour and we have known for quite some time that she will be a superstar on the LPGA Tour. To see her accomplish her first win in such a short amount of time confirms what we already knew: Mi Hyang Lee is a winner. To see her as a champion at 21-years-old and to see her win with our golf ball is a really special moment."

Before winning the Mizuno Classic, Lee had three Top 10 finishes on the LPGA this season, including a then career best T6 finish at the Reignwood LPGA Classic. Lee also won the LET’s ISPS Handa New Zealand Open in February with the Volvik S3 95-compression golf ball. Lee was named the Rookie of the Year on the 2012 Symetra Tour after winning two events with a Volvik Vista 4-piece golf ball to help her earn her LPGA Tour card.

““I won on the LET in February in New Zealand and that gave me a lot of confidence,”  said Lee. "It’s pretty quick, this is only my second year out here. I think every tournament is a good experience for me and today was pretty great for me because I didn’t think I could win this tournament yet.”
