The Volvik Championship, a new Symetra Tour event, Coming to Orlando's Reunion Resort Sept. 20-22
ORLANDO, Fla. - A new professional golf event is coming to Orlando Sept. 20th with the first annual Volvik Championship on the Symetra Tour. The event will be held Sept. 20-22 at Reunion Resort and will feature players vying to finish in the Top 10 of the Volvik Race for the Card in order to earn their card for the 2014 LPGA Tour.
The Symetra Tour annually awards LPGA membership to its top players on each official season money list. A total of 87 players have automatically "graduated” since 1999.
There are only two events remaining on the 2013 Symetra Tour, the Volvik Championship at Reunion Resort in Orlando Sept. 20-22 and the Symetra Tour Championship at LPGA International Sept. 26-29.
"The next two events are crunch time to figure out who is going to the LPGA Tour next year," said Volvik USA President Don Shin. "We are extremely proud to be the sponsor and golf ball manufacturer that so many of these players trust to get to that next level. It should be a very exciting two weeks for Volvik and everyone involved."
Volvik USA, an Orlando based company, launched at the 2013 PGA Merchandise Show with their ultra-high performance 3-piece and 4-piece color golf balls that have become extremely popular on the world's professional golf tours.
According to the company, they have had a significantly successful year launching the brand, especially with the attention their staff players have garnered the company on the LPGA Tour, Web.com Tour and Symetra Tour, where they have proven to be one of the highest performing golf balls on tour.
In the last 18 LPGA Tour events, players using Volvik colored golf balls have earned one Victory, 15 Top 10 finishes (including nine Top 5's) and 32 total Top 25 finishes.
Volvik is the official golf ball of the Symetra Tour and is also the sponsor of the Volvik Race for the Card. At every Symetra Tour event, the driving range is covered in Volvik's colorful high-performance 3-piece and 4-piece golf balls for all Symetra Tour players to practice with. Each year since 1999 players have been playing their way onto the LPGA Tour through the Symetra Tour’s Volvik Race for the Card by finishing atop the season-ending money list.
Over 20 players are using Volvik colored golf balls on the 2013 Symetra Tour. Volvik players have now earned two Victories, eight Top 10 finishes and 19 Top 25 finishes so far in 2013.
Volvik staff player Christine Song, who ranks 2nd in the Volvik Race for the Card standings, earned her second victory of 2013 using a Yellow Volvik Vista 4-piece golf ball at the Eagle Classic in the last Symetra Tour event. The win was the 5th victory for a player using Volvik golf balls in the past year on the LPGA Tour and Symetra Tour and the 8th victory for Volvik worldwide since 2012. It was also the fourth Symetra Tour victory by a player playing a Volvik golf ball, the first two coming in 2012 by Volvik staff players Mi Hyang Lee and Victoria Elizabeth. Both players now currently play on the LPGA Tour after earning their tour cards through the Symetra Tour. Song's first win this year came at the Sara Bay Championship, the second event of the 2013 Symetra Tour season.
"We are out here on the Symetra Tour with the Volvik Championship and the Volvik Race for the Card to make a statement that we are very serious about helping aspiring golfers achieve their ultimate dreams of playing on the top professional tours in the world," said Volvik's National Director of Sales and Marketing Jon Claffey. "We made a decision to help sponsor and provide golfers with a new kind of performance and dedication to help get them to the next level. That is why we sponsor the Symetra Tour, started signing players on the Web.com Tour and why we are actively introducing our golf balls to junior leagues and college programs. These players are the future of the game and we want to be here for them."
Volvik is the #1 Color Golf Ball On Tour, with over 303 of its color golf balls in play on the 2012 and 2013 LPGA Tour. Since 2012, players using Volvik's ultra high-performance color golf balls earned over $4 million on the LPGA Tour, Web.com Tour and Symetra Tour with five victories and 45 Top 10 finishes.
